Guide to determining glove size
The use of disposable gloves in the healthcare sector is essential to protect both medical service workers and the patients being treated from any type of contamination.
There are different types of medical gloves (latex, nitrile, vinyl, etc.), and sometimes it can be difficult not only to choose which type of glove to choose, but also to actually choose which glove size to use.
Choosing the right glove size is very important so that the glove fits perfectly to the hand and can be worked with in total comfort and safety. If a glove size is chosen that is smaller than normal, it can create a feeling of fatigue in the hand due to the pressure exerted by the small glove, in addition to being more likely to break. On the other hand, a glove that is too big will produce an effect of loss of sensitivity and touch, as well as difficulty in handling, which can affect work performance.
If you are unsure of which glove size best fits your hand, we recommend:
- Option 1: Measure your hand
Using a measuring tape, measure the circumference at the knuckles, excluding the thumb. The hand should be open with the fingers together. Compare this measurement to the table below to determine glove size.
5” (12 cm) | 6” (15 cm) | 5 / XXS |
7” (18cm) | 7 ½” (19cm) | 6 / XS |
7 ½” (19 cm) | 8” (20cm) | 7 /S |
8” (20cm) | 8 ½” (21.5 cm) | 8 / M |
8” (21.5 cm) | 9” (23 cm) | 9 / L |
9” (23 cm) | 10” (25 cm) | 10 / XL |
10” (25 cm) | 11” (28 cm) | 11 / XXL |
11” (28 cm) | 12” (30 cm) | 12 / 3XL |
- Option 2: Size Chart
Place your right hand on the glove board so that the curve between your thumb and index finger lines up with the X. The measurement closest to the right edge of your hand will be the corresponding glove size.
If your hand is between two sizes, always choose the smaller one.
However, it is always best to try the glove on before using it, and take into account comfort and dexterity.
