The BD Whitacre™ Spinal Needle is designed for spinal anesthesia and lumbar puncture procedures, offering precision and safety. Its pencil-like tip separates dural fibers rather than cutting them, reducing the risk of post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) by minimizing cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) loss.

The lateral hole, located close to the bevel, allows for accurate delivery of anesthetic into the subarachnoid space. In addition, the needle provides a distinctive tactile sensation when penetrating the dura mater, alerting the clinician to correct placement.

The transparent auricle facilitates visualization of the CSF, and its color coding according to caliber allows for quick and accurate identification.
